- Do not allow your children to go to the mall alone until you both agree
that they are mature enough to handle any situation.
- Do not allow your child to carry money until they know how to handle
it safely.
- Do
not leave your child in the food court, game room or toy store unattended while
you shop.
- Do not allow your child to go to the restroom alone, teach them safety
first and stay near the door.
- Explain to your child where you will meet in case you are separated.
Make sure they know where security is located and how to identify a
security officer.
- Teach your child about strangers and what to do if someone approaches
them. Teach them not to talk to anyone they do not know. If someone
tells them you sent them to get him or her, it may be a trick. Have
a secret password that only you and your child would know. In an emergency
the person sent would know the password. Teach your child not to discuss
the password with anyone else.
- Shopping can be enjoyable for all if we practice good safety habits.
Our children will follow our example.
