Deputy George Hernandez has been employed at the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office since March 18, 1997. Deputy Hernandez started his career in law enforcement 26 years ago with a neighboring agency and the military police. He started here at JPSO on patrol, then transferred to the Crime Scene Division. In June 2002, Deputy Hernandez transferred to the Property and Evidence Division. Deputy Hernandez's daily duties include picking up property and evidence, logging the property into the computer, then transports the property to the designated JPSO warehouse. The Property and Evidence Division are responsible for maintaining all property and evidence, storage of the evidence until court or return the property to the owner.

Deputy Hernandez has wanted to be a police officer since he was a child. His grandfather was a Sergeant for NOPD. He enjoys working with the people in Property and Evidence. "They are very professional and do a great job, very team oriented and a family environment," said Hernandez.
