Lt. Jeffrey Eddy

Lt. Jeffrey Eddy has been employed at the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office for 19 1/2 years. He started his career working in the Correctional Center, and then worked in the 1st district on patrol for 8 1/2 years, later transferring to the Range & Armory division. He is responsible for the range facility, scheduling of range usage and tactical training. Lt. Eddy's daily duties include handling annual (POST) Peace Officer Standards and Training qualifications required for every gun carrying officer. The Range & Armory staff also has to be certified once a year by the state. Lt. Eddy is also coordinating and assisting in the training of officers in the use of the TASER weapon, an electronic weapon that incapacitates the perpetrator. Currently under construction at the range is a shoot house, a mock house that is complete with doorways and rooms that allows training for building searching, and a computer controlled shooting decision room.

Lt. Eddy is also a member of the JPSO SWAT Team since 1986, as an operator and sniper. He is currently the sniper team coordinator. "If I can show one officer one thing that can save his life or that he remembers during a fatal shoot out, I feel I have completed my mission," said Eddy. "I enjoy instructing and helping fellow employees."
