Sergeant David Spera currently works in Personal Violence with dual assignments. Two days a week he conducts pre-employment polygraphs and remains on call for criminal tests as well. The remainder of his time he is assigned to the shooting investigations unit. This newly developed unit is responsible for investigating non-lethal shootings and other violent crimes in Jefferson Parish. Spera started his career on Patrol in the Fourth District before transferring to the Detective Bureau, where he has been assigned to the Personal Violence Division for the past nine years. He attended Polygraph school in Atlanta during the summer of 2006. He is also responsible investigative cases, logging of evidence, victim and witness interviews.

"Since hiring on with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, I have had opportunities to experience different levels of law enforcement and am hopeful about the new administration and it's future," said Spera.
