Major Victor Amstutz has over thirty-one years of service with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. He served as a Patrol Officer and Patrol Supervisor in the First, Second and Fourth Districts. During his thirty-one years, he also served as a Detective in the Criminal Investigations Bureau, Traffic Investigations, and a SWAT team leader for sixteen years. In 1995 he graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Major Amstutz is responsible for commanding approximately seventy officers that patrol the western half of the East Bank of Jefferson Parish. He responds and assists on major crime scenes and makes himself available to the members, citizens and business owners of the Fourth District. His goals include promoting officer safety, keeping officers informed on procedure and hold each officer to the highest level of professional performance.
