Deputy James Dowden has a long history with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office beginning in 1986 as a volunteer Reserve Officer. He worked in many areas of the sheriff’s office, Patrol Division, Young Marines and also serving as a Traffic Safety Specialist/Law Enforcement Liaison, for the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission. In September 2007 he retired with the rank of Reserve Lieutenant to pursue full time employment with the department. James now serves as an Investigator for the Personnel Division where he is responsible for pre-employment testing, background and criminal history checks. |
