Junior Deputy
     
  Rules  
 
  1. Meetings - Junior Deputies are encouraged to attend all meetings. If three consecutive meetings are missed the youth may be taken off the rolls.
  2. Uniforms - The Junior Deputy Golf Shirt must be worn to all outings. Any Junior Deputy shirt may be worn to meetings and practices. All Junior Deputies should be clean, neat and dressed in good taste.
  3. All Junior Deputies should act with pride and represent the Sheriff's Office well at all functions. Any child who does not will be disciplined by the deputy in charge on an individual basis.
  4. Any Junior Deputy who wishes to speak during a meeting should first be acknowledged by the speaker.
  5. Any Junior Deputy who acts in such a manner that brings discredit to the organization will be disciplined by the deputy in charge. This includes cursing, misbehaving. lying or any other inappropriate behavior.
 
 
     
 
 

Junior Deputy Association

  1. To achieve a constant decrease in juvenile crime.
  2. To prevent accidents in the home, water, and traffic.
  3. To provide wholesome recreational activities for the youth of our area.
  4. To acquaint the youth with the functions of government and law enforcement.
  5. To stimulate interest in career choices in later years.
  6. To promote closer relationships between parents and children.
  7. To enable children throughout the parish to get to know one another.
  8. To provide a positive attitude for the children towards law enforcement.
     
 

General Information

Membership is open to all children between the ages of ten and sixteen who reside in Jefferson Parish. The meetings during the school year are on the second Saturday of the month. The location will vary from month to month. The meeting place will be printed in the Junior Deputy Gazette for the following month. Unless otherwise, stated-the meeting will begin at 11:00 am.

There are no dues for the organization but each child is required to purchase one shirt to be worn to Junior Deputy activities. The cost of this shirt is $11.00.

There are two groups within the organization which members may join.

Drill Team - marches in several parades in Jefferson Parish.

Glee Club - sings at several area nursing homes and retirement homes during the Christmas holidays.

When members reach the age of sixteen and are in good standing they may receive an Honorable Discharge.

We have a monthly newsletter "The Junior Deputy Gazette" and we encourage all members to submit articles.

Children ages eight to ten whose parents are active volunteers may join as Mascots. The parent must attend with the child.
