Arrest suspects and have the Career Criminal Intercept Unit track these individuals through the criminal justice system to ensure optimal success with prosecution. |
|
| Rejuvenate | Rejuvenate the community. After the targeted neighborhood has been cleared of its most violent offenders, deputies using community policing will introduce social programs and work to create a healthy environment. | |
| The concept of Community Policing and Project S.T.A.R. began in 1993 with a pilot program. Seventeen high crime areas within Jefferson Parish were selected and targeted by the program. The Project S.T.A.R. Unit began in 1995 with funding from the United States Department of Justice. Several years into the program when the grant money was exhausted, the Sheriff adopted the unit as a permanent division funded by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office operating funds. | ||
