Robert Gerhart

Robert Gerhart has been employed at the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office since June 6, 1990. Prior to Robert's employment at JPSO, he worked for Louisiana Power and Light as an electrician. After his retirement from LP&L, he decided to go through the police academy and started his career in law enforcement as a Correctional Officer at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center. Robert transported inmates to court and later worked in the Motor Pool as Security. In 1998 he transferred to General Services as an electrician.

Robert is responsible for all JPSO facilities, any electrical problems, special projects and wiring new locations. The last year he has been involved in a special project at the academy. The academy has designed a shoot house, a realistic simulation of entering a residence or motel room. General Services' role in the shoot house was developing a lighting and sound system that could be suspended over the shoot house. Robert has enjoyed working at the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office for the last 14 years. "I really enjoy doing electrical work, it keeps me busy", said Robert.
