Captain Hilda Montecino

Captain Hilda Montecino has been employed at the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office since September 21, 1981. She started her law enforcement career working in the 911 center. Since that time Hilda Montecino has worked in Records and Identification, Crime Screening, Property, and the Juvenile Division. Over her twenty-two years at the sheriff’s office she has received several promotions; most recently she was promoted to Captain in August 2003. Capt. Montecino is responsible for several sections and assumes command in the absence of Colonel Judy Long. Her daily duties include overseeing the daily runaways and missing person’s investigations.

 

Captain Montecino works closely with runaway and missing person cases and takes command of any major investigations. Investigating a missing person or runaway is a process starting with an initial report, then back track any leads; there may also be a series of interviews and phone calls. Capt Montecino has helped implement the "Amber Alert" which is available to all agencies within Jefferson Parish. The Amber Alert System is a critical missing child response program that utilizes the resources of law enforcement and media to notify the public when children are kidnapped. "The most rewarding part of my job is reuniting a missing persons with their family," said Montecino. “The past twenty-two years have been very interesting; as I work under the command of Sheriff Harry Lee. I hope to continue my career within the Juvenile Division. “
