Sergeant Ralph Parker began working with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office in the 1972 as an undercover officer. After completion of the Police Academy in 1973 he worked in several divisions of the Sheriff's Office, Patrol, Burglary, Robbery and Homicide. In 1997 Parker transferred to Project S.T.A.R. and was promoted to Sergeant in September 2001. Project S.T.A.R. (Survey, Target, Arrest, and Rejuvenate) is a crime fighting program that works with the community and provides programs for the children, assist the elderly and restore the neighborhoods. Sergeant Parker is responsible for the Bridge City area, as the Resident Deputy his duties range from working with the community, government, state and parish entities, attending Civic Association meetings, and supervising his squad.

"I enjoy working with the community and try to enhance the lives of the children in the neighborhood, and hopefully in the future we can turn these neighborhoods around,” said Parker.
