Lousie Walzer

Louise Walzer has been employed at the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office since October, 1972. Louise started in the Crime Lab as a Drug Analysis Technician while attending college. In 1976, she moved to the Firearms Section. She graduated in 1979 from St. Mary's Dominican College, with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. Louise is responsible for all high profile cases, such as murders and deputy shootings. She is currently working on building a "Crime Scene Team", which includes herself, other Forensic Scientists, Crime Scene Technicians along with Detectives. In the Crime Lab, Louise performs distance determination, which is how far the barrel of the firearm was from the victim's clothing, along with matching bullets and fired cartridge cases to suspect weapons. Some other duties include serial number restoration, tool mark examination and general administration. She is also working as a liaison between the Forensic Scientists and Detective Bureau.

Louise's primary goal and passion for herself and the other members of the crime lab, is to protect the people of Jefferson Parish. "The only way this can be successfully accomplished, is to keep up with the latest scientific developments, and work together as a team," Louise said. "Sheriff Lee has always supported our lab, and for that I am grateful."
