Name: Lorn Bourgeois Position: Radio System Manager Division: MIS Years of Service: 12 |
Lorn has been with the Sheriff's Office since 1993 specializing in electronics and maintenance of the radio system and mobile data systems. Lorn is responsible for restoring radio communication back to the Sheriff's Office as well as mobile information communication that allows officers to run name checks and upload police reports from their police cars. |

On
Monday morning August 29, while Hurricane Katrina
was bearing down on Louisiana coast,
the 400 ft radio tower located in Gretna collapsed and the antenna
rack located on top of the Galleria was destroyed. The radio towers
play a vital role in providing communications for public safety.
Once weather conditions
improved, repairs began. Tuesday morning radio communications were
partially restored to the East Bank with assistance from the MIS
Division and
the East Bank patrol officers who carried equipment up 23 floors to
the roof of the Galleria. By Wednesday morning the West Bank had partial
communication and continues to improve. |
