Sergeant Luis Munguia began his law enforcement career in 1984 as a Patrol Deputy, once promoted into the Crime Scene Division he fell in love with his work. As a Crime Scene Investigator you learn many disciplines, photographic skills, latent fingerprint processing and evidence handling to name a few. In 1988 he became a Latent Fingerprint Examiner and has testified as an expert in many courts. He is responsible for identifying, comparing and preserving fingerprint impressions discovered in criminal investigations. Sergeant Munguia will assist Crime Scene, Criminal and Coroner's Investigators in collecting and preservation of latent fingerprints from a crime scene or from an article of evidence. He prepares latent fingerprints secured at a crime scene for entry into the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (A.F.I.S.), where he evaluates and compares inked to inked fingerprints and latent to inked fingerprints for identification. |
