Sergeant Kathleen Ianetta began her career at the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office in 1979 working at the East Bank Lockup, and attended the Police Academy in 1980. After graduating from the Police Academy she was assigned to the First District as an FTO (Field Training Officer), where she trained new recruits that graduated from the academy. In 1995, she transferred to the department's Community Relations Division teaching the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Program) for five years, and was then promoted to Sergeant in 1996. In 2000, Sergeant Ianetta transferred to the Personnel Division, where she is now responsible for managing recruitment for potential employees of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. Her daily duties in Personnel range from background investigations to administering pre-employment testing on potential employees.

Sergeant Ianetta has wanted to work in law enforcement since she was a child. "I have enjoyed my twenty-five years with the Sheriff's Office, I look forward to advancing in my career," said Ianetta. "One of the most rewarding parts of my job is assisting with employment to individuals wanting to work for the Sheriff's Office."
