Sylvia Phillips has been employed at the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office since May 23, 2002. Sylvia started her career here at JPSO as a Clerk I, processing background checks, fingerprinting and issue of permits. After doing this job for approximately 2 months, Sylvia took on more responsibilities within the department, and has been promoted to Clerk II. She has since taken on expungements, balancing the register and end of the month billing. Her duties and responsibilities include name checks for various law enforcement agencies as well as private owned companies. Recently she attended a training course for basic latent fingerprinting and is now a certified fingerprint technician.
Sylvia Phillips has wanted to work in law enforcement since she was 19 yrs. of age. She enjoys her job and likes to solve problems. "I have always had a desire to work in the law enforcement arena and I like a challenge," said Phillips. Working for JPSO for the past 7 months has been a positive experience, and Sylvia looks forward to learning more about law enforcement.
