Sheriff Newell Normand reports, around 10:30 Saturday night headquarters received a call from Grand Isle Police about a stabbing death near Cypress Lane and LA 1. A Grand Isle resident witnessed the stabbing on the beach and called 911.
A white female had been stabbed multiple times. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
The suspect fled after stabbing the woman. Shortly after Grand Isle Police, assisted by JPSO deputies captured Randy Paul Marcel, W/M, 28 of Chauvin Louisiana.
The victim had been dating Marcel for about three years.
According to witnesses the two got into a verbal argument which led to the stabbing.
The victims one year old son was on the beach during the time of the incident.
The child will be placed in the care of the state.
The victim's name is being withheld until a relative is notified.
Randy Paul Marcel will be booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center.
