HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION IN HARVEY

Sheriff Newell Normand reports, this evening, around 6:00 PM, a 22 year-old black female suffering from multiple gunshot wounds was brought to WestJefferson General Hospital by a female companion. The victim, identified as Keyoka Collins, of 1800 Brown Avenue inHarvey was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Upon interviewing the friend of the victim, Homicide investigators learned that she and the Ms. Collins were sitting in her vehicle near the driveway of 1800 Brown Avenue having a conversation with two unnamed black males. She continued by saying within minutes, two unidentified black males walked up to them and began firing at the victim. The witness believed only one of the two suspects was firing a weapon. After doing so, both men fled. It was then; the friend/witness drove the victim to WestJefferson Hospital.

Crimes Scene technicians recovered a number of spent shell casing near the driveway as described by the witness.
