VEHICLE BURGLARY INVESTIGATION
Thursday, February 13, 2014 10:18 AM
on Tuesday, February 11, 2014, we released information on a suspect and a vehicle we believed were involved in a vehicle burglary on Carnation Avenue in Metairie. In a follow-up investigation, Burglary Detective Todd Giacona learned of several additional vehicle burglaries that occurred in the same general area of Carnation Avenue. Detective Giacona reviewed home video surveillance footage from residents on Carnation Ave and was able to determine the suspect to be a white male, driving a silver colored Chevrolet HHR. This information was shared with members of our Criminal Intelligence Center who subsequently provided Giacona with information that this same Chevy HHR was recently involved in a vehicle pursuit in the city of Kenner. Two arrests were made in that incident, however, the driver of the vehicle managed to elude police. Upon learning the identity of the suspect (Christopher Fusco) and the license plate information on the HHR, which, was reported stolen from Alabama investigators entered this information into out ALPR camera system.
On February 12, 2014, around 2:30 PM, Third District officers responded to an alert from an ALPR camera in Marrero. After spotting the wanted vehicle, an attempt was made to stop it, however, the driver refused to pull over, resulting in a short vehicle pursuit which ended on Orleans Way in Crown Point. As a result, Christopher Fusco, W/M, 33, of 4101 Delaware Avenue in Kenner was placed under arrest and taken into custody for questioning. The stolen vehicle was towed to our Investigations Bureau for processing.
Detective Giacona interviewed Fusco regarding the vehicle burglaries in Metairie along with the use of credit cards taken in the incidents. Fusco denied committing the burglaries, however, did admit to using several of the stolen credit cards to make numerous purchases. Fusco was transported to the JPCC where he was booked with four counts of Simple Burglary along with sixteen counts of Access Device Fraud.
A photograph of Fusco is attached.
