JPSO CITIZEN'S ACADEMY SPRING SESSION ANNOUNCEMENT
Monday, February 10, 2014 10:29 AM
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office will hold its Spring Citizen’s Academy starting on April 1, 2014. The Citizen’s Academy is a FREE, 24-hour block of instruction, sponsored by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, designed to give citizens knowledge about how your Sheriff’s Office operates, our policies, procedures, programs, and challenges. In addition, you will be introduced to the Sheriff’s staff and learn about their responsibilities and enforcement efforts, and trends in law enforcement.
Participants in each session will meet weekly each Tuesday evening from 6p-9p for eight weeks. This is a great opportunity to meet your police officers, fellow citizens, and other members of the law enforcement profession to learn why we do what we do and how we accomplish it. Participants are asked to attend six of the eight sessions to graduate.
Classes include topics such as Operations, Criminal Investigations, Specialized Investigations, SWAT, Emergency Rescue, Crime Lab (CSI) and others. Classes are held at the Training Academy located in Harvey and include field trips to various locations such as the Crime Lab, 911 Communications Center, Firing Range, and LASER facility.
Anyone interested in attending our Spring session can obtain an application at http://www.jpso.com/CitizensAcademy/Application.aspx or by calling 363-5547.
