Wednesday, January 15, 2014 02:16 PM

On Tuesday, January 14, 2014, we released a photo taken from a homeowner's video surveillance system during what we are investigating as an attempt residence burglary as well as a vehicle burglary that occurred at a home in the 7800 block of Barataria Blvd in Marrero. The picture we released was that of the suspect looking into the homeowner’s camera just prior to him pulling it from its mounting bracket.

Aside from disseminating this photo to each of you, we also posted the same photo along with the info on the incident on our official JPSO Facebook page. As a result, yesterday evening around 7:00 PM, JPSO Detective Wayne Augillard received a telephone call from a female not wanting to identify herself, telling Augillard that she saw the photograph of the suspect on the JPSO Facebook page and recognized him as “David Lee”. The caller also stated that “Lee” had been arrested the same night for driving while intoxicated. The information was forwarded to the case investigator, Detective Steve Higgerson. Higgerson checked with the JPCC and was able to locate a David Le, W/M, 28, with a last known address of 5001 Radcliff in Marrero, LA. who was incarcerated on DWI and Probation Violation charges. Le’s last arrest photo on January 11, 2014 matched that of the surveillance photo we released. A computer check also confirmed that David Le had been arrested approximately 3 hours after he was captured on video surveillance in the Barataria incident.

Detective Higgerson transported David Le from the JPCC to Investigations Bureau for the purpose of questioning him regarding the incident on Barataria Blvd. When Le was shown the surveillance photograph, he told Higgerson “That looks like me but I didn’t steal anything.” Upon completion of the interview, Higgerson returned David Le back to the JPCC where he was additionally booked with one count each of Simple Burglary, Attempt Simple Burglary along with Simple Criminal Damage.
