CAR JACKING INVESTIGATION

Tuesday, November 12, 2013 02:49 PM

Sheriff Newell Normand reports, this morning around 11:20 AM, our officers were dispatched to what was first reported as an aggravated battery at 211 Veterans Blvd in Metairie. Initial 911 reports indicated an elderly female sustained a cut on her head an arm after being struck with a broken bottle. Investigators met with the victim, a 68 year-old female from Chalmette who reported she was sitting in her vehicle after visiting a nearby business at 211 Veterans when an unidentified male subject armed with a broken bottle approached her and demanded her vehicle. The victim, who became frightened by the suspect’s actions and was slow to respond, was pulled from her vehicle at which time the suspect fled from the parking lot in the victim’s vehicle. Investigators believe the suspect struck the victim with the broken bottle causing a laceration to her head and arm as he forced her out of her vehicle.

The suspect fled in the victim’s white, 2004 Chevrolet 4-door Cavalier, bearing Louisiana License NWL309. He is described as a W/M, in his mid-20’s, 5’6-5’7” tall, thin build with a bald head. He also had multiple tattoos on head, face and neck.

Anyone with information in this incident is asked to contact Detective Paul Smith at 364-5300 or CRIMESTOPPERS.
