THEFT & VEHICLE BURGLARY INVESTIGATIONS

Wednesday, May 22, 2013 03:13 PM

On May 21, 2013, the Kenner Police Department announced the arrest of an individual identified as JACKIE WILLIAMS, B/M, 49 of Kenner for Theft. You may recall, a video was produced by Lamarque Ford on Williams Blvd. depicting an individual believed responsible for the theft of property from within the Lamarque Ford complex.

As the Kenner Police Dept. was conducting their follow-up investigation into this matter, Ronnie Lamarque distributed the video through the local media as well as social networks. JPSO Property Crimes Detective Todd Rivere, upon viewing the same video recalled several investigations he was working on involving the theft of tires, rims and other property stolen from auto dealerships in Jefferson Parish.

In one particular incident, which occurred on July 02, 2012 the business of Don Bohn GMC, at 3801 Lapalco Blvd in Harvey reported being the victim of multiple thefts and vehicle burglaries. During the investigation, Detective Rivere learned an unknown perpetrator(s) defeated locks securing access to the property and after doing so cut a hole in a bordering fence. Upon making the unlawful entry, the perpetrator(s) removed an assortment of new tires and rims from GMC vehicles along with property from within several of the vehicles.

One of the burglarized vehicles had the presence of a red liquid substance believed to be blood on the exterior and interior of this vehicle. A crime scene technician was summoned and processed the scene collecting a swab of the blood. The evidence was subsequently submitted to our crime laboratory for analysis. At the conclusion of the analysis, it was determined through DNA testing the sample match belonged to Jackie Williams, B/M, DOB: 10/14/1963. A search warrant for the body of Jackie Williams was issued on February 06, 2013. Efforts were underway at that time to locate Williams, however, after numerous attempts at addresses know to investigators, Williams was never found.

Upon viewing the video in the Lamarque Ford incident, Detective Rivere noted strong similarities between the suspect in the video and that of Jackie Williams. From that point, a collaborative effort was underway between the JPSO and the KPD. On May 16, 2013, an arrest warrant for Jackie Williams was issued. See KPD News Release on the arrest of Jackie Williams.

After being questioned at length by JPSO detectives, Jackie Williams ultimately confessed to committing multiple thefts and burglaries at vehicle dealerships in Jefferson Parish. He was subsequently booked into the JPCC on the following charges:
