Handgun

LRS 40:1379.1.G allows the Sheriff to issue concealed handgun permits to citizens who live and/or work in Jefferson Parish. This permit is only valid within Jefferson Parish and does not permit the carrying of a concealed weapon outside of the Parish. The permit is valid for one (1) year and must be renewed annually.

All applicants must meet certain minimum requirements in order to be considered eligible for a Jefferson Parish Concealed Handgun Permit. Click the link below to review these requirements.

Jefferson Parish Concealed Handgun Permit – Minimum Requirements

Applications are available from our Gun Permits Section (located on the 1st floor of Building B in our Westbank Administration Building at 1233 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA 70058) or online (see links below). For security purposes, applications must be delivered in person. Office hours of the Gun Permits Section are Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.

A $25.00 non-refundable processing fee must be paid prior to issuance of the permit. A $10,000 personal surety bond may also be required.
