Sheriff Joseph Lopinto announces the arrest of James Daigrepont, 59, of Marrero, for a bank robbery that occurred on January 4, 2018 in the 4600 block of Westbank Expressway in Marrero. Daigrepont was located outside of Baton Rouge yesterday with the assistance of the US Marshals - New Orleans Field Office, and was subsequently transported to the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center and booked with one count of First Degree Robbery.
On January 4th, Second District deputies responded to a report that a white male suspect had just robbed the bank by presenting a note to the teller claiming to be armed and demanding money. The teller complied, and the suspect was able to escape the bank with an undisclosed amount of currency. As the investigation progressed, a witness identified Daigrepont as the perpetrator of the robbery. JPSO Robbery Detective Ryan Fanguy obtained an arrest warrant for Daigrepont, and Daigrepont was arrested on January 11, 2018.
Following his arrest, Daigrepont admitted to robbing the bank and identified himself in surveillance photographs recovered from the scene.
