Sheriff Newell Normand announces the arrest of Chrishon Brown, B/M, 36, of New Orleans, for two counts of Armed robbery.
On Saturday, June 24, 2017, at approximately 11:17am, our deputies responded to a holdup alarm at a bank in the 300 block of Veterans Boulevard. As deputies were responding, a caller notified the Sheriff's Office that two tellers at the bank had just been robbed at gunpoint by a masked black male suspect. The suspect was able to flee the location with an undisclosed amount of cash surrendered by the two tellers, and entered a vehicle nearby.
Detectives from our Robbery Section, with assistance from the FBI-New Orleans Field Office, were able to identify Brown as the possible perpetrator of the robbery. Despite multiple attempts, Brown was not located until July 19, 2017 by investigators from the FBI. Brown was subsequently interviewed by our investigators. While denying he committed the robbery, he admitted to being in the area of the bank during the robbery. This admission, combined with the evidence collected during the investigation, was enough to convince our detectives that Brown did in fact commit the robbery.
Brown was booked with two counts of Armed robbery pursuant to an arrest warrant secured by Sergeant Frank Renaudin of our Robbery Section.
